CME Series 4 CPD points
Complicated and Uncomplicated Malaria Case Management Series
Complicated and Uncomplicated Malaria Case Management Series. Target: All . CPD Credits: Physicians: 4 points.
Overview
Malaria is a serious illness that can be fatal if not diagnosed and treated quickly. Pregnant women, babies, young children and the elderly are particularly at risk. The Plasmodium falciparum parasite causes the most severe malaria symptoms and most deaths. Background Continuous training of health workers has been the key intervention to maintaining their good performance and keeping their vigilance during malaria elimination programmes. However, countries progressing toward malaria elimination have had a largely decreased malaria disease burden, less frequent exposure of health workers to malaria patients, and new challenges in the epidemiology of the remaining malaria cases.
This CME series tries to uncover an array of different factors that might still be affecting the sustainability of a healthy workforce. Some of the topics covered include: Treatment of Uncomplicated Malaria & Malaria Treatment, and Prophylaxis in Pregnancy.
